Abidal just got a red card in the Semi Final Champoins League match between Chelsea and Barcelona. The funny thing is that we all saw, within a minute, that Abidal didn’t make contact with Anelka. A huge mistake by the referee that could have easily be prevented. We are now watching an unfair match. Update: Handball in the box by Barcelona missed by referee. Update: In 93th minute Barcelona scored the equalizer, Barcelona to the final in Rome against Manchester United. Update: Chelsea players/ Didier Drogba think ref/ UEFA didn’t want an other English team in the final. These kind of feelings can be brought back to a minimum by helping referees with technical appliances. Update: Some opinions on the match and the decisions of the referee.
I’d like to suggest one simple way to deal with these kinds of decisions: give both teams two changes for a camera-replay in a doubtfull situation on which the referee can alter his decision. Update: The referee of yesterday’s match Ovrebo from Norway received death threaths and left the stadium by police escort. I hope the police will arrest the people who expressed these threaths.
