The first goal-line incident that comes to mind is of course the shot of Geof Hurst that hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced down on or behind the goal-line in the 1966 World Cup final. England won in extra time also due to this controversial goal with 4-2 against Germany. Modern technology suggests the ball didn’t pass the goal-line and even Hurst himself admitted it didn’t.
