goal-line technology
Besides Hawkeye, what is in use in several sports, other techical appliances are available. Read here in German about the Goal-line Technology system. My opinion is that this system will be outdated before it comes to use. Hawkeye has more options. To prevent goal-line incidents (see here, here or here) it makes a three dimensional image of the situation around the goalpost and can determine or a ball passes the goal-line. I think it is very likely that this system is also appliable on offside-situations. Video of hawkeye and Goal-line technology system:

i really dont think anything this complex is needed…although it is cool. i think for goal-line, cameras can do the trick.

This technology seems like a bit frivolous. I agree with the comment above that what is needed is a simplistic solution like the camera systems found in Rugby. FIFA already trialled similar technology and would be unlikely to adopt it now.
The technology is not the problem, it is FIFA they’re trying so hard to keep the grassroots of the game intact they’re unwilling to embrace the changes football needs to be fairer!
