Marco van Basten
Marco van Basten commented the rules of football in 2002 in a Dutch magazine called “Hard Gras”.
His opinion (clearly influenced by other sports):
1. The offside rule should be abolished or technical applicances should be installed to optimalize the offside practice.
2. Play two times of 35 minutes pure playing time. When the ball is not in play, the time stops.
3. Introduce time-outs
4. A player who gets a yellow card should leave the field for a certain period of time.
5. Every team can only have a maximum 24 players.
6. Less teams in a competition for less matches in a year.
